Curriculum

Classical Education

West Houston Charter School offers a classical approach to learning incorporating the acclaimed "Core Knowledge" curriculum (www.coreknowledge.org).

Teachers use developmentally appropriate instructional techniques based on the Trivium at all grade levels. Subjects are integrated allowing for maximum retention. Our low student-teacher ratio facilitates the Socratic method (leading students to discover for themselves).

State-of-the-art laptops are used in classrooms throughout the school ensuring our students are 21st century learners.

Specific elements of the curriculum include: Shurley Grammar, Lost Tools of Writing, EnVision Math (elementary), Holt (junior high), Core Knowledge History and Geography, Latin (Minimus, Segundus), and English from the Roots Up. The foundation of our reading program is classical literature.
